Sonny Bono’s legacy lives on, as his original idea, the Palm Springs International Film Fest, reaches new heights with Chairman Harold Matzner at the helm.
Says Matzner of Bono’s dream:
“There’s no question it was his idea,” he said. “He thought it would be good for business. I think it’s been wonderful for business. I stepped in when it was collapsing because I felt it was a wonderful way to build the Palm Springs brand throughout the world. What we developed, picking up Sonny’s dream, is probably $35 million worth of advertising value that the city gets just on direct media exposure. So, that’s what attracted me to it. And Sonny’s (death) attracted me to it. I did want to serve his vision.”
